I often find myself awe-inspired by the resourceful and tenacious spirit that I have witnessed in my clients. In my opinion, an important responsibility of any psychologist is to relentlessly believe in their clients’ capacity for change and growth.

About Me

I am a registered Counselling Psychologist, practicing from the Satori Health Centre in Garsfontein, Pretoria East. I find it rewarding to work with adults, groups, couples and other diverse relationship structures.

My professional journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) at the University of the Witwatersrand, majoring in both Psychology and Sociology. This interdisciplinary foundation provided me with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour within social contexts.

Following my BA, I continued my studies with an honours in Psychology, where I delved deeper into the complexities of the human mind. It was during this time that I began to explore the intersection of psychology and social dynamics, laying the groundwork for my future interest in Community-based Counselling Psychology.

My academic journey culminated in my Master of Arts in Community-based Counselling Psychology, also at Wits. This enriching period allowed me to major in both community and counselling psychology, further honing my clinical skills and nurturing my passion for understanding the intricate dynamics of psychic life within relational contexts.

One pivotal moment in my journey was my volunteer work at an orphanage, where I bore witness to the resilience and joy of children amidst the shadows of trauma. This experience broadened my perspective, shaping my understanding of psychology as a dynamic field that encompasses the richness of human experiences, often existing dialectically with deep-rooted pain.

Central to my practice is a fascination with the human psyche's innate ability to adapt to the world around it. I believe in delving beyond surface-level understanding to explore the depths of individual narratives, recognizing the profound influence of cultural and historical factors on personal experiences. I adopt the perspective that the unconscious mind is formed by intergenerational influences and cannot be removed from the social environment in which it exists. My view is developed from the relational psychoanalytic school of psychotherapy.

In my therapeutic approach, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for individuals grappling with trauma, violence, loss, discrimination, and other stressors. Predominantly drawing from psychoanalysis, and influenced by feminist literature, critical psychology, and social constructivism, I challenge societal norms and work towards affirming diverse identities.

Ultimately, my practice is anchored in the intention to support people in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, facilitating personal growth and living life more fully. It is within facing our true emotions where we begin to engage with our most authentic selves and experience the world more fully.
